Nominate someone for Canadian Lawyer's Top 25 Most Influential

|Written By Gail J. Cohen

The Canadian Lawyer team is starting to put together nominations for this year’s 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada list and we’d like to get readers’ input. In our first outing last year, there were obviously some controversial picks. So we are giving readers a chance to tell us who they think deserves to be recognized as one of the lawyers in this country who has wielded the most influence over the past 18 months.

We are changing up the format a bit for the 2011 edition and will be looking for the five most influential practitioners in each of the following categories:

Corporate-Commercial: including litigation, deals, etc.

Criminal/Human Rights

Government/non-profits/associations

Corporate counsel

Outliers: basically anyone who's a lawyer and has been influential somehow over the past 18 months.

Here's a reminder of how we're defining “influential”: It is not just about bright stars, big deals, or number of media mentions — although those may play a part. It’s about people who have power and influence the laws, justice system, and legal profession in Canada today.

Please feel free to e-mail me your thoughts on anyone you feel should be included in our nomination list. Our internal panel will be putting it together by the end of this week. These are not formal nominations so just send along the person’s name and a sentence or two on why you think they should be included.

Thanks!
