Weird case of the week

|Written By Yamri Taddese

R. v. Brumble, Ontario Court of Justice

It’s a story that starts with a friend’s text promise to his pal to get him a “pretty girl with long nose and six teeth.” In reality, the girl with “dental challenges” is a .38 calibre revolver with six rounds of ammunition. Police who have been tracking this text exchange between the the two men were able to recognize the deal and as the judge put it, they “crashed the date” on the day the purchaser met the pretty girl and arrested him. As luck would have it, the pretty girl in fact had no teeth, which meant the accused isn’t subject to a mandatory minimum sentence he would have faced had the gun come with bullets.
