Weird case of the week

|Written By Yamri Taddese

Seguin (Township) v. Hamer, Ontario Court of Appeal

Dennis Neil Hamer wants to feed bears and "do so by hand." He claimed Seguin Township's bylaw prohibiting people from doing so is really without evidence. The court, obviously, says "No, sir."

"The respondent's evidence fails to establish anything resembling bad faith in this case," wrote the three-judge panel in its endorsement.

"It seems to us the respondent's evidence seeks to have the court engage in a review of the wisdom of the By-law. This the court cannot do," it stated.
