Widely known for his book Canadian Contractual Interpretation Law, Geoff Hall has been cited many times by the Supreme Court of Canada. He was the successful lead counsel on trial for Ontario Limited v. The Toronto-Dominion Bank, which had a significant impact on the banking industry for the scope of a bank’s duties to third parties, only previously tested on pleading motions. In 2016, the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed the appeal in Canada (Attorney General) v. Fairmont Hotels Inc. in which Hall acted for Fairmont Hotels. He successfully represented Rubicon Minerals Corporation, a respondent in Wabauskang First Nation v. Minister of Northern Development and Mines. Hall is also an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, where he teaches contracts and contractual interpretation.
