A flash of Blakes

|Written By Gail J. Cohen

In wildly un-Canadian-law-firm fashion about 48 articling students, partners, associates, and staff from the Toronto office of Blake Cassels & Graydon LLP shook their booty in a flash mob dance in the food court of Commerce Court over the lunch hour.

According to Blakes, the 48 So You Think You Can Dance wannabees had been practising their moves for weeks to the Black Eyed Peas song “I’ve got a feeling.”

The Blakes articling students first performed the dance at the firm’s holiday party on Dec. 2. It went off so well, they they decided to spread the cheer and perform it for a second time in Bay Street office crowd.

The red-capped Blakes dancers really got the spirit going down there in the food court and soon a number of passers-by joined in for the fun.

“We just wanted to have some fun,” said Kari Abrams, director of student recruitment and development at the law firm. “Everybody has been working so hard, it was really great to be part of something so creative and make people smile.”
