KKR acquires Broadcom's End-User Computing Division (now Omnissa) for approximately US$4 billion

KKR & Co. Inc., the global investment firm, completed its acquisition of the End-User Computing Division of Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ: AVGO) for approximately US$4 billion in cash, in a transaction that established the acquired business as Omnissa, an independent digital workspace software company. The transaction was announced on February 26, 2024, when KKR signed a definitive agreement to purchase the division, which had been part of VMware's portfolio prior to Broadcom's November 2023 acquisition of VMware and which Broadcom subsequently identified as non-core to its long-term roadmap. The transaction closed on July 1, 2024, with additional local closings in certain jurisdictions occurring through the balance of 2024. KKR's investment was funded primarily from its North America Fund XIII. At closing, Omnissa launched as a privately held standalone company with approximately US$1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue, 26,000 customers worldwide, and 4,000 employees, led by Chief Executive Officer Shankar Iyer, who had previously run the EUC business at VMware. Omnissa's portfolio centres on flagship digital workspace products including Workspace ONE, a Unified Endpoint Management platform, and Horizon, a desktop and application virtualization platform, along with offerings spanning digital employee experience and security and compliance.
