Erin Zipes

Erin Zipes has served as Chief Legal Officer at 1Password since 2022, where she has scaled the legal function from a team of three to nearly 20. She brings over 20 years of legal experience, more than half of which has been in-house at technology companies, and 10+ years as Assistant General Counsel for cross-listed (TSX and NYSE) public companies.

She built and scaled the corporate legal function as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel at Shopify, supporting the company from pre-IPO through its first six years as a public company. Prior to that, she was Assistant General Counsel at Nordion and began her legal career at Stikeman Elliott.

Erin chairs the Governance Committee and serves on the Board of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation. She previously served as a board member of MindBridge Analytics Inc., an AI-driven financial risk discovery software company.

She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen’s University and an LL.B./B.C.L. from McGill University, where she graduated with Great Distinction.
