Sherry Wendt

Sherry A. Wendt is Vice-President, Legal & Chief Compliance Officer at Cenovus Energy. In her role with Cenovus, Sherry is responsible for oversight of the company’s global business conduct and trade compliance program.

Sherry has over 20 years of energy sector experience. Since joining Cenovus in 2015, she has served in multiple senior leadership roles, including Associate General Counsel & Assistant Corporate Secretary and various Vice-President roles spanning legal, corporate secretarial, investor relations, strategy, corporate planning, investment governance, value chain optimization and market fundamentals. Prior to Cenovus, Sherry spent about 7 years as Corporate Secretary & Corporate Counsel at another large publicly-listed energy company, and began her career with a large Canadian law firm.

Sherry holds an LL.B. from the University of Calgary and a B.Comm. (Honours) in Actuarial Mathematics from the University of Manitoba. In 2018, she was named one of the Top 40 Lawyers Under 40 in Canada. In 2020 and 2021, while serving as Cenovus’s Vice-President, Investor Relations, Sherry was recognized as a ‘Top Gun’ Investor Relations Officer, rated in the top 5% of investor relations professionals worldwide.
