Eversheds Sutherland to get smarter document handling
Eversheds Sutherland is to roll out a new document and email management system across its international footprint.

The firm has selected iManage to provide the system, which represents a significant investment in technology for the firm and will enable greater collaboration among its 4,300 lawyers and other staff.

It means that documents can be accessed wherever an employee is based with flexibility and control over data security.

Eversheds Sutherland IT director Will Jenkins said the system has been selected after a rigorous selection process.

“Over the past six months, we have undertaken an extensive selection process for the firm’s new document and email management system - involving representation from across each of our business areas - to ensure that consideration of all our people’s working practices will be met,” he said. “This new, modern and agile system scored highly for usability and functionality across our people; and takes the firm to the highest levels of compliance for auditing, data management, and security, meeting a new benchmark for best-in-class risk management.”

Global innovation drive announced at Kennedys

The international firm has several key technology products such as its virtual lawyer solution KLAiM.

The first round of the Ideas Labn saw around 100 ideas submitted focusing on ways to develop and adapt products to help clients use lawyers less.

“We are excited to be launching this second iteration of the Ideas Lab. The first round brought an incredible level of engagement globally, and we were thrilled at the creativity and ingenuity shown by staff across all areas” said Karim Derrick, Head of R&D at Kennedys. “The Ideas Lab is open globally to staff across all levels and departments. Successful ideas in the first round came from paralegals, senior associates, counsel and partners, from offices in New Jersey, London, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Singapore.”
