Jack Schroder has joined McCarthy Tétrault's partnership in Calgary, working with the business law group.

The mergers and acquisitions expert has tackled financings, commercial transactions, corporate governance, continuous disclosure, and stock exchange listings. His clients have included private equity firms, start-ups, investment banks, and large public companies.

He has worked with organizations in the oil and gas, cannabis, mining, technology, and startups sectors. Recently, he advised private-equity-backed US company RELAM Inc. on its cross-border acquisition of equipment solutions and specialty truck company Falcon Equipment Ltd.; he also guided Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. on a $525 million asset acquisition from Veren Inc. and debt recapitalization.

Moreover, Schroder assisted REACH Canada Accelerator Ltd. with its first-ever REACH Canada program and with investment into its eight real estate technology cohort companies. In addition, he worked with Yangarra Resources Ltd., WOW Unlimited Media Inc., Canaccord Genuity Corp., Regulus Resources Inc., RBC Capital Markets and National Bank Financial Markets, Cassiar Gold Corp., and Seaport Global Securities, LLC.

Eva Bellissimo, McCarthy Tétrault’s national practice group leader for business law, highlighted Schroder's work with established public companies and emerging market players.

"Canada and its western economy are experiencing unprecedented changes that require our clients to be nimble and proactive in their business strategies. Having a strong bench of talented and creative lawyers is key to helping our clients meet these changes, and Jack is a natural fit for both our western team and national platform," Bellissimo said in a statement.

Schroder praised the Calgary office's familiarity with the market.

"I’m thrilled to be joining McCarthy Tétrault. The Calgary office has an excellent sense of the local and regional market and is very well supported by the firm’s tightly integrated national teams," he said. "There’s this really strong ability to provide clients with everything they need, and I’m excited to see how I can leverage this for our clients, especially when I’ve spent a lot of time working with businesses that have unique demands requiring diverse perspectives."
