Verdon Armanda Gauthier avocats counsel Mireille Pélissier-Simard joins Superior Court of Quebec

Verdon Armanda Gauthier avocats counsel Mireille Pélissier-Simard has joined the Superior Court of Quebec as a judge.

She replaces Justice Daniel Dumais (Québec) following Dumais’ appointment as senior associate chief justice at the Superior Court of Quebec on November 8, 2025. Pélissier-Simard’s practice concentrates on family and human rights law.

Pélissier-Simard began working with Verdon Armanda Gauthier in 2004, serving as an attorney and family mediator. The firm highlighted her work in economic, patrimonial, de facto spouse cases, and matters involving the determination of support payments.

She is on the the liaison committee with the Superior Court—Family Division of the Québec Division.From 2019 to 2022, she chaired the Barreau de Québec’s liaison committee with the Court of Appeal. She was commissioned by the Québec Ministère de la Justice to produce a report on the the current state of various aspects of the Québec model for the determination of child support payments.

Pélissier-Simard taught human rights law at Laval University and has supervised the yearly updates to case law in the annotated AliForm software for two decades. She authored family law publications and is active in Barreau de Québec and Association des familialistes de Québec committees.

She obtained her bachelor of laws at Laval University and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec in 1997. She has spoken at Les développements récents en droit de la famille and the National Judicial Institute.

Canada justice minister and attorney general Sean Fraser announced Pélissier-Simard’s appointment on Friday April 10.

“I wish Justice Pélissier-Simard every success as she takes on her new role. I am confident she will serve the people of Quebec well as a member of the Superior Court of Quebec,” Fraser said in a statement.

Last November, Louis-François Asselin, Benoit Lussier, and Véronique Boucher also joined the Superior Court of Quebec bench.
