David Neuberger, Toby Landau, and Karyl Nairn will address issues like AI impact
David Neuberger, Toby Landau, and Karyl Nairn have been announced as the keynote speakers for International Arbitration Day at the 2026 London International Disputes Week.
They will address key current developments in international arbitration. Topics that will be tackled on this day include geopolitical shifts in investment treaty arbitration, cross-border enforcement and recognition, artificial intelligence and technology, specialized sector expertise, and arbitrator insights and procedural excellence.
LIDW International Arbitration Day co-lead Philippa Charles said in a statement that the speakers each brought “exceptional distinction and experience, spanning judicial leadership, advocacy at the highest international level, and deep engagement with international arbitration as it evolves as part of the dispute resolution landscape both in London and overseas.”
“As a central focal point of the week, the speakers will address some of the most pressing developments shaping international arbitration today, while underscoring its importance as a consistent thread running throughout the programme alongside litigation and mediation,” said Loukas Mistelis, LIDW co-chair, in a statement.
David Neuberger
Neuberger was formerly a UK High Court judge, lord justice of appeal, and law lord. He was president of the UK Supreme Court from 2012 to 2017.
In 2010, he became a non-permanent judge of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal, a role he still holds. He has also been a Singapore International Commercial Court judge since 2018. Presently, he is an arbitrator at One Essex Court.
Toby Landau
Landau was the first Queen’s Counsel/King’s Counsel to be permanently called to the Singapore Bar. The Duxton Hill Chambers (London and Singapore) and Temple Chambers (Hong Kong) barrister and arbitrator has been involved in significant international commercial, investor-State and inter-state arbitrations globally.
He is vice president of the SIAC Court of Arbitration and sits on the ICCA’s governing board. He helped draft the English Arbitration Act 1996.
Karyl Nairn
Nairn was once global co-head of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom’s international litigation and arbitration group, where she concentrated on complex international commercial and investment treaty arbitration in the finance, energy, and mining sectors. She chairs the Development Board of JUSTICE.
She was named a deputy High Court judge in England and Wales in 2023. She was on the ICC International Court of Arbitration from 1999 to 2015 and served as vice president. From 2019 to 2024, she was LCIA Court vice president.
International Arbitration Day will open LIDW on June 1. It will be held across 3 Verulam Buildings, Debevoise & Plimpton, and Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.
This is the first year that a set of chambers has hosted a hub.
