Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.

Borden Ladner Gervais LLP

Cameron MacCarthy has joined BLG as a partner in the firm's corporate and capital markets group. MacCarthy's business law practice covers mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations and corporate finance. He has extensive experience negotiating shareholder and investor rights agreements, advising on corporate governance matters and assisting clients with complex commercial arrangements.

Clyde & Co

The firm has welcomed Charles A. Foucreault as a partner in its Montréal office. Foucreault specializes in civil and commercial litigation, encompassing professional liability, product liability, general liability, class actions, defence, coverage, and regulatory work in the province of Quebec. He has advised clients on property and construction law, directors' and officers' liability, errors and omissions insurance, and cyber risk.

"Charles further strengthens our insurance offering in Montreal and Canada, and he will form part of our global insurance and construction practices," Partner and chair of Clyde & Co's North American board Eileen King Bower commented.

Lenczner Slaght

The firm has welcomed Corey McClary to its intellectual property group. McClary specializes in pharmaceutical patent litigation and has experience advising clients on complex disputes, including actions under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations, patent infringement and impeachment actions, and judicial review proceedings. Before joining Lenczner Slaght, McClary summered, articled and practiced in the intellectual property litigation group at a leading international law firm in Toronto.

McKercher LLP

McKercher has welcomed Dezarae S. Senft as a partner in the firm's Regina office. Senft specializes in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, corporate reorganizations, commercial real estate, and general corporate or commercial and business law. She has advised clients on a transaction's initial strategic decision-making and risk assessment stage, exploratory meetings, confidentiality and other ancillary agreements, due diligence, and closing matters. Senft was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2006 and the Saskatchewan bar in 2012.

MLT Aikins LLP

The firm has welcomed Chace Stokowski to its Calgary office. Stokowski practises corporate, commercial and transactional law and advises business owners, entrepreneurs and management teams. He also served as a Canadian Mental Health Association board member in Kamloops. Stokowski is a certified fraud examiner and a certified public accountant.

Sotos LLP

Denna Jalili has joined Sotos LLP as an associate in the firm's litigation department. Jalili earned his JD and MBA degrees from the University of Toronto. While at law school, he served as a caseworker at Downtown Legal Services, representing students in various academic disciplinary proceedings.

Stikeman Elliott LLP

The firm has welcomed four first-year associates to its Montréal office who were recently sworn in by the Québec Bar. Khaoula Bansaccal joined the firm's litigation group, Kangni Han and Jia Yi Xiao joined the corporate group, and Antonin Lapointe joined the tax group.
