McCarthy Tétrault LLP has welcomed Brandon Wiener and Milan Vukovic as partners in its Toronto office, expanding its private client tax planning practice within the firm's national tax group.

Wiener will lead the expanded practice, working alongside Vukovic and team members Mike Dolson and Troy McEachren. The group advises high-net-worth individuals, families, business owners and family offices on Canadian tax planning, including cross-border and international matters.

The appointments form part of the firm's continued investment in specialized tax services. McCarthy Tétrault said its national tax group holds a Band 1 ranking in Chambers Canada and is the largest tax group among Canadian law firms.

In 2025, the firm established its charities and non-profits practice, which subsequently received top-tier recognition from Chambers Canada.

Wiener brings more than two decades of experience in personal, corporate and trust tax planning. His practice covers corporate reorganizations, business acquisitions and sales, succession and estate planning, charitable giving, and immigration and emigration.

He also advises investment funds and managers on tax matters and represents clients in audits, assessments and voluntary disclosures.

Called to the bars of Ontario and Québec, Wiener earned his law degrees from McGill University and previously clerked for Supreme Court of Canada Justice Michel Bastarache. He also holds the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Vukovic focuses on complex tax matters involving high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts and privately held businesses. His practice includes private wealth and succession planning, corporate reorganizations, registered charities and tax controversy matters.

Vukovic was called to the Ontario bar in 2018 and earned his law degree from Queen's University Faculty of Law. He is an active Canadian Tax Foundation member and periodically lectures at Queen's.

“Private client mandates can engage several areas of tax at once,” Vukovic said in a statement. “Being part of a Tax Group of this scale means we can bring the right tax specialists together around a client without fragmenting the advice.”

The firm said it intends to continue building its private client tax planning capabilities as part of its broader tax practice expansion.
