New Toronto partner joins firm’s legacy team, works closely with tax and business teams
Linmac LLP has announced the appointment of Shonna Petrook – who is experienced in helping individuals and families make estate plans – as head of the firm’s estates and trusts practice, as a member of its legacy team, and as a new Toronto-based partner.
“As we grow our Toronto office, she will play a key role in helping families protect what they have built and plan with confidence for the next generation,” said Jordan Morelli, Toronto office lead, in Linmac’s LinkedIn post.

Linmac also has offices in Vancouver and Calgary.

With over two decades of legal experience, she has handled matters involving estate planning and succession. She has helped clients prepare testamentary trusts, living wills, and powers of attorney for property and personal care.
Before joining Linmac as of Sept. 14, she operated Petrook Law in the Greater Toronto Area, beginning in December 2016. During a three-year stint at McMillan LLP, she worked as an associate and as a student-at-law.
She also served as a manager for policy and research at the Ontario College of Trades for four years and as a senior policy advisor at the province’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for nearly seven years.
She earned admission into the Ontario bar in 2002. She obtained her LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2001 and her BA in women’s studies and history from the University of Western Ontario in 1996.
