Dentons Canada’s board unanimously approved extension of his mandate
Dentons Canada LLP has announced the appointment of Tim B. Haney, first appointed as the firm’s chief executive officer in February 2022, to his second term in the role as of Feb. 1, 2027.
According to the announcement, the Dentons Canada region board’s unanimous approval of the extension of Haney’s mandate showed confidence in his continued leadership, as well as the firm’s strategic direction and growth trajectory.
“His distinctive ability to combine strategic vision with disciplined execution and a relentless focus on client service excellence has helped position the Firm for continued success,” said Alex Farcas, presiding member, Dentons Canada board, in the news release.
“Canada has become one of the most strategically important regions for Dentons and a powerful example of how we are building a more connected and client-centered Firm around the world,” added Kate Barton, Dentons’ global CEO. “Tim has been instrumental in that success.”
"I am humbled and honoured by the Board’s confidence and grateful for the support of our partners, lawyers and business professionals across the Firm,” Haney said.
Tim Haney’s first term as CEO
The news release noted that the firm made efforts to grow, invest in its people, modernize its operations, advance its innovation and artificial intelligence initiatives, and expand its cross-border capability during Haney’s first term.
“Throughout his first term, he has fostered a culture of confidence, innovation, inclusion and collaboration that continues to strengthen our Firm,” Farcas said in the news release.
“He is a deeply collaborative leader who brings people together around a shared vision, embraces innovation and remains relentlessly focused on helping our clients succeed,” Barton added. “Under his leadership, Canada has become a model for growth, modernization and collaboration across our great Firm.”

Per Haney’s profile on the firm’s website, he is based in both Calgary and Toronto.

According to the news release, Dentons plans to continue focusing on its clients and people and to keep up the momentum moving forward.
“I am delighted to continue partnering with Tim as we build on that momentum and pursue the significant opportunities ahead,” Barton said in the news release.
