Canadian Media Producers Association appoints Alain Strati as general counsel

The Canadian Media Producers Association has appointed Alain Strati as senior vice-president, industry, policy and general counsel. In this role, he will oversee legal, industry, legislative, regulatory and public policy files for the organization.

“It’s a pivotal time in our industry as we look to government to modernize the Broadcasting Act,” said Reynolds Mastin, president and CEO at the CMPA. “With Alain’s deep experience, and demonstrated commitment to collaboration he will be a huge asset to the CMPA, our members, and the independent production industry in this country.”

Strati most recently held the position of assistant general counsel, regulatory affairs, at Bell, where he worked on a variety of files related to the Canadian broadcasting system. Prior to this, he was at Rogers, where he held positions as vice president, business & regulatory affairs, and vice president, OMNI, specialty TV & development.

“The audiovisual sector in Canada is among the best in the world, and the CMPA plays an important role in ensuring the continued success of our media production industry,” said Strati. “I look forward to working alongside a team of talented industry experts to represent the interests of independent producers working in Canada’s vibrant media industry.”
