She heads the e-discovery service provider’s Canadian class action administration practice
As Epiq’s recently appointed vice president for class action solutions, Geneviève Bertrand spearheads the e-discovery service provider’s Canadian class action administration practice and offers strategic guidance for complex class action proceedings and settlements across the country.
“Geneviève’s understanding of the Canadian litigation and class action landscape, combined with her experience advising both corporate legal teams and law firms, makes her an exceptional addition to Epiq,” said Michael O’Connor, Epiq’s senior vice president for client services, in the announcement.
According to Epiq’s update, Bertrand’s new leadership position requires close collaboration with stakeholders, including corporate legal departments, law firms, and courts.
“Clients need a partner who understands the challenges class action matters can create for their organizations,” Bertrand said. “I’m excited to join the Epiq team and assist in delivering the guidance and administrative expertise clients need.”
“Her strategic perspective and client-centric approach will further strengthen our ability to help clients navigate increasingly complex class action matters with confidence,” O’Connor added.

With over 15 years of experience, she has worked on matters involving litigation, investigations, regulation, compliance, and class actions across the pharmaceutical, product liability, insurance, retail, broker-dealer, and securities sectors, with services provided in both English and French.
Bertrand has represented clients before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Federal Court, and all levels of Quebec courts.
Before joining Epiq, she was director for litigation and investigations at Pharmascience in Montreal beginning in November 2023. She served as an investigator for market manipulation and insider trading at Autorité des marchés financiers in Montreal from March 2012 to April 2013.
Bertrand has also worked at law firms, including acting as counsel at Torys LLP in Montreal from April 2013 to October 2020. At McCarthy Tétrault LLP in Montreal, she was a litigation lawyer from May 2007 to March 2012 and a summer student in 2005 and 2006.
She has gained admission to the bars of Quebec and Ontario. She obtained her BCL/JD in 2007 and her BA in anthropology in 2000 from McGill University. She also studied European and international law at the University of Copenhagen and ethnology at Aix-Marseille University.
