Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.

Aird & Berlis LLP

Kazim Agha has joined Aird & Berlis as a partner and member of the firm’s intellectual property group. Agha is a registered patent agent in Canada and the United States, with a PhD in chemistry from McGill University. He sits on the board of directors for the Chemical Society of Canada, and he is also an associate member of the Committee on Patent Related Matters and the International Activities Committee of the American Chemical Society. 

He specializes in preparation and prosecution of patent and industrial design applications in Canada and internationally. He has advised clients in the chemical, mechanical and medical technology sectors. Agha’s experience encompasses sustainability, lubricants, agrochemical, pharmaceutical, consumer products, energy, construction, industrial processes, medical devices, cannabis and automotive.

Bennett Jones LLP

Yannick Beaudoin has joined Bennett Jones as a partner in the firm’s news office in Montreal. He has over 25 years of experience in infrastructure and project development, project finance, banking and financial services, real estate and asset-based finance.

Clark Wilson has welcomed Corinne Molloy and Aleisha Zanic as associates in the firm’s family law group. Molloy specializes in litigation, including cohabitation and marriage agreements, separation and divorce, spousal support and entitlements, property and asset division, child support and relocation matters.

On the other hand, Zanic’s litigation practice encompasses cohabitation and marriage agreements, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, separation and divorce, spousal support and entitlements, property and asset division, child support, parenting arrangements and relocation matters.

DLA Piper (Canada) LLP

The firm has welcomed Annie-Claude Authier to its Montreal office as an associate in the litigation, arbitration, and investigations group. Authier practises civil and commercial litigation, encompassing class actions, consumer law, ‎competition law and commercial leasing disputes. She has been regularly called upon to appear before various level of courts in Québec, including the ‎Court of Appeal, the Superior Court and the Court of ‎Québec.‎ Prior to joining DLA Piper, Authier worked as an external counsel for another leading ‎national law ‎firm and as an internal counsel for one of the largest communications companies in Canada.  

Harper Grey LLP

The firm has announced that Jessica Mank joined Harper Grey as an associate in the firm’s commercial litigation, securities and construction groups. Mank has represented clients in securities regulatory matters, shareholder disputes, securities class actions, proxy contests and litigation involving disputed transactions. Mank obtained her law degree from the University of Toronto.

McLennan Ross LLP

Thomas Rodgers has joined McLennan Ross’s Calgary office. Rodgers practises insurance defense and commercial litigation. He was admitted to the Alberta bar in 2020.
