Blakes has named 13 new partners who came from across the firm’s offices in Canada and worked in various practice areas and industries.

Dentons Canada LLP

Dentons has welcomed five new professionals to its Ottawa office, expanding the firm’s Municipal Planning, Land Use, and Development Law client offering in Ontario. Partner Roberto Aburto leads the new team, comprised of associates Kelly Duquette and Alice Mihailescu, law clerk Amanda Russo and their legal assistant Lisa Belanger. They are expected to complement the firm’s municipal planning law, administrative law and civil litigation capabilities.

This is an exciting growth opportunity for the firm, and I am particularly pleased to be able to expand our real estate and municipal planning law client offering with a team based in the nation’s Capital Region,” said David Little, managing partner of the Ottawa office.

Dentons also recently added corporate and litigation lawyers—Peter Inglis and Daniel Stachnik- to its Edmonton office.

Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP

Former Justice Minister and Attorney General of Canada has joined Fasken as counsel. Lametti served as Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada from 2019 to 2023 and has served as member of parliament for LaSalle—Émard—Verdun since 2015.

“We are thrilled to have Mr. Lametti joining us,” said Martin Denyes, firm managing partner. “When you speak with David, it does not take long to understand that he shares our values and commitments. He has worked tirelessly toward indigenous reconciliation in Canada. The firm has welcomed Gordon Cameron to the Calgary corporate group as a partner specializing in corporate finance, securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. Cameron is experienced in guiding clients through complex multi-jurisdictional mergers and acquisitions transactions. He also has a background in private equity and venture capital.
