Five law firms made new announcements
Welcome to this week’s roundup of movements among major law firms, in which we sum up significant hires, promotions, departures, and other announcements.

The firm has recently welcomed Anika Garlick, who will join its aviation practice group in Vancouver; Maggie Lee, who will join the firm’s corporate/commercial and wills, estates, and trusts practice groups in Vancouver; and Dessa Booth, who will join the insurance practice group in the firm’s Toronto office.

Baker McKenzie has announced that Emmanuel Sala joined the firm as a partner in Toronto. Sala has experience advising companies on domestic and international tax matters concerning mergers, tax reorganizations, financing transactions and acquisitions. He has also represented taxpayers at all stages of tax disputes with the Canadian tax authorities. Sala has experience advising clients in multiple sectors and has experience in the energy, renewable energy, oil & gas and mining sectors.

Matthew Epp has joined Dentons as a partner in the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution group in Calgary. Epp has over 25 years of experience with commercial litigation, securities litigation, class actions and white-collar crime matters.

The firm has also welcomed Jason Kroft as partner and head of its new structured finance and securitization group. Based in Toronto, Kroft brings over 25 years of experience in structured and specialized finance.
