Jamie Sprayregen, a prominent U.S. bankruptcy attorney, is set to leave Kirkland & Ellis to join Hilco Global, a private financial advisory firm.

Over the past three decades, Sprayregen contributed to developing Kirkland & Ellis's corporate restructuring practice. From its inception in 1990, he built the group to become a leading restructuring practice. He held a position on Kirkland's global management committee during the periods of 2003–2006 and 2009–2019. Between 2006 and 2008, he also co-led the restructuring group at Goldman Sachs before making his return to Kirkland at the close of 2008. Among the notable clients he worked with are Energy Future Holdings, Caesars, Avaya, Toys "R" Us, iHeartMedia, Seadrill, General Growth, Japan Airlines, United Airlines, and Reader's Digest.

At Hilco Global, Sprayregen will take on the position of vice chairman, acting as a partner and crucial strategic advisor to Jeffrey Hecktman, the CEO and founder of Hilco Global. This team represents a newly established and collaborative executive leadership group within the Hilco Global holding company.

"Jamie joins our global executive team as a key advisor and strategic partner alongside David Kurtz and John Chen, to further align our organization to meet the aggressive commercial growth plans we have established for our company," Hecktman said.

Sprayregen said, "Having known Hilco Global my entire professional life, I've always been impressed by the breadth and depth of their solutions focused platform and their deep relationships with the top executives at third party advisors (including lawyers, lenders, private credit, investment banks, commercial banks, and investors. These relationships provide an incredible foundation for me to contribute and to play a key role in taking Hilco to the next level of growth and expansion."

Sprayregen holds the position of adjunct full professor of finance at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he co-teaches a course on corporate restructuring alongside the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Additionally, he is part of the National Board of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and serves on the Board of Governors for the American Jewish Committee.
