King & Spalding adds energy and project development partner Dan Feldman in Abu Dhabi

King & Spalding has hired energy, infrastructure and project development lawyer Dan Feldman as a partner in its corporate, finance and Investments practice group. He is based in the Abu Dhabi office.

Feldman advises on projects and transactions across the full range of traditional and green energy technologies, including renewables, hydrogen, oil and gas, power, infrastructure and mining megaprojects around the world. His clients include corporations, government entities and financial institutions, both in the Middle East and internationally.

Feldman’s experience in the clean energy/carbon management/green industry space, in particular, will be key to his role at the firm, where he will work with lawyers across its global offices to deliver integrated project and transaction delivery solutions worldwide.

“Dan is a highly-regarded projects lawyer with a wealth of experience across some of the world’s most important energy assets,” said Todd Holleman, head of the firm’s CFI practice group. “The Middle East is a cornerstone of our global projects and energy practice, so adding Dan there strengthens our know-how on the ground in the region and also offers fresh opportunities for collaboration with colleagues in the U.S., Europe and Asia.”

Feldman joins the firm from Shearman & Sterling, where he served as co-head of energy innovation and leader of its global hydrogen/ammonia industry team.

“Dan adds further heft and a strong complement to our Middle East projects team, which with partners Tim Burbury and James Clark is currently involved in some of the most high-profile projects and transactions in the MENA region,” said Nabil Issa, managing partner of the firm’s Middle East offices. “Dan’s portfolio of billion-plus dollar deals from Australia and Japan right across to the U.S. and Canada speaks for itself – it’s great to have him on board.”

Feldman added: “King & Spalding’s platform – with its top-tier resources in the Middle East and globally – is ideal for growing my practice in concert with the firm’s own growth. As the energy transition accelerates and clients around the world seek assistance in transforming their businesses, I am eager to add my experience with both new and traditional energy projects and transactions to the firm’s existing strengths in these areas and to collaborate with my K&S colleagues, several of whom I’ve worked closely with before, to continue the practice’s upward trajectory.”
