Aird & Berlis

The firm has welcomed Melissa A. Muskat as a partner in the municipal and land use planning group. Muskat is a property tax specialist with over 30 years of experience. She advises commercial landlords, tenants, developers, property managers and financial institutions on property assessment matters, municipal taxation issues, and tax-related commercial leasing matters.

Lawson Lundell LLP

Lawson Lundell has announced that the following lawyers have joined the firm as an associate:

Lighthouse Family Law LLP

Sasha Faraone has joined Lighthouse Family Law as an associate lawyer. She specialized in family law and was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 2017.

McLennan Ross LLP

Evan Dixon has joined McLennan Ross' Calgary office as a environmental and energy practice group partner. His experience encompasses energy, environmental, regulatory, and aboriginal law. He has assisted clients with compliance issues and complex administrative, regulatory, and environmental frameworks associated with energy regulation.

McMillan LLP

The following associates have joined McMillan:

  • Nadia Hanine – business law, Montreal
  • Spencer Klug – commercial real estate, Calgary
  • Ryan Johnson – litigation and dispute resolution, Calgary

Norton Rose Fulbright

Norton Rose Fulbright has named business and intellectual property lawyer Elizabeth Williams as the firm's new office managing partner in Calgary. Williams is described as a "home-grown talent" who has spent her entire career with Norton Rose Fulbright. She specializes in mergers and acquisitions, complex licensing, intellectual property commercialization, and portfolio monetization.

"For many years, Elizabeth has held leadership positions, including as a member of the Canadian management committee and the global executive committee, which will serve her well in this important role," said Charles Hurdon, Canadian managing partner.

Williams expressed pride in taking the helm of the firm's Calgary office, which has been at the centre of many transactions and high-stakes litigation matters in Alberta for years.

Smart & Biggar

Smart & Biggar has announced the appointment of Daniel Anthony as principal in the firm's trademark practice. The firm has also promoted Matthew Burt and Katie Lee to senior associates.
