LEAP Legal Software sponsors new family law firm prize for upcoming Canadian Law Awards

Attendees at this year’s Canadian Law Awards gala on May 11 will see a new award being presented to celebrate the best in the practice of family law. It is the latest addition to the impressive roster of honours that will be handed out in 23 categories to firms and individuals in the legal profession.

“It is an honour to bestow the LEAP Legal Software Family Law Firm of The Year Award at the upcoming 2023 Canadian Law Awards,” says Malcolm Muthulingum, CEO of LEAP Canada.

“We are proud to partner with Key Media in supporting the 2023 Canadian Law Awards, where the best achievements in the legal profession are recognized,” Muthulingum says.

The LEAP Legal Software Family Law Firm of the Year Award is open to all Canada-based law firms of any size that derived at least 50 perecent of their 2022 revenue from family law matters.

Nominations for the 2023 Canadian Law Awards are open until Feb. 3, 2023.

Finalists will be announced as Excellence Awardees in Lexpert and Canadian Lawyer in March (non-deal categories) and April (deal-related categories). Winners will be announced at the gala in Toronto, with an announcement on how to purchase tickets for the event coming soon.

LEAP Legal Software provides cloud-based tools to the legal industry to enable law firms to streamline their processes while increasing the productivity and profits. The company acquired DivorceMate in 2021, allowing DivorceMate tools to be integrated with LEAP’s other software offerings for the legal industry.

Family law is but one of the many practice fields that LEAP Legal Software has been designed to serve. Muthulingum says. Focused on the needs of small to mid-sized firms, he says LEAP is dedicated to developing legal practice management software that helps law firms run efficiently and productively.

“LEAP's software technology and commitment to legal practice innovation has been at the forefront of industry change for more than 30 years; combined with our partnership with DivorceMate Software, it was a natural fit for us to establish this new award category of legal excellence for family law firms across Canada,” says Muthulingum.

“We're looking forward to what LEAP brings to the legal industry in 2023.”

Building on the success of the three previous events (virtual and in-person) since it was launched in 2020, the annual Canadian Law Awards celebrates the nation’s outstanding law firms, in-house legal teams, individuals, deals and cases in 2022. It’s the perfect chance to acknowledge great work and look to the future.

Hosted by Lexpert, and supported by Canadian Lawyer and InHouse, the Canadian Law Awards acknowledge the legal profession’s achievements over the past year and recognize those who went above and beyond in their commitment and contributions to the sector.

Nominations can be submitted for all categories on the Canadian Law Awards website with the call for submissions ending just before midnight on Feb. 3, 2023. Our external advisory panel of esteemed legal practitioners will invest many hours reading the large volume of detailed submissions and casting their votes for those nominated. PwC – The official ballot accountants – will also verify the score tallies.
