Association of Corporate Counsel invites nominations for Value Champions

The Association of Corporate Counsel has announced that it is open for nominations for the 2021 ACC Value Champions, which aims to celebrate value leadership in terms of reducing legal costs, improving predictability and reaching better outcomes. Nominations close on Jan. 31.

Leaders of corporate legal departments, regardless of size or location, are eligible for nomination, or may self-nominate, for in-house team projects that did not include the participation of firms or vendors. Firms and legal service providers may co-nominate, together with their clients, a law department that has innovated to improve the value of legal services. For these nominations, ACC membership or sponsorship is not necessary.

Those selected as Value Champions will receive the chance to present their value-related initiative at the ACC’s annual meeting, public recognition and media exposure via announcements and profiles on the ACC’s website and honours at the ACC’s annual leadership event including an engraved, crystal trophy. Those who have been distinguished as Value Champions also convene regularly to trade ideas.

Through hosting the Value Champions program, ACC aims to offer legal teams of different sizes and industries the opportunity to receive recognition for their accomplishments and to share their value-focused success stories, practices, strategies and tools, which may in turn inspire others to follow their example and drive value in their own organizations.

The value initiative may relate to a single matter or a multi-year, multi-dimensional project. ACC urges those making nominations to set down the scope and duration of these initiatives and to share the metrics and results relating to the three categories, which are costs, predictability and outcomes.

Individuals making nominations should briefly explain the management strategies utilized; the innovative and collaborative aspects, such as whether the project was internal or involved the cooperation of clients, firms or vendors; the replicable and demonstrably sustainable programs; and any tools, templates or dashboards used.
