Bennett Jones represented the plaintiffs in a multibillion-dollar case before the Commercial List this week, while Adair Goldblatt Bieber, Lax O’Sullivan Lisus Gottlieb, and Osler Hoskin & Harcourt represented individual respondents in the matter.

The most notable commercial case this week is the $4.45-billion case Sakab Saudi Holding Company et al v. Saad Khalid S Al Jabri et al, continuing with Bennett Jones LLP partner Amanda McLachlan representing the plaintiffs and Adair Goldblatt Bieber LLP partner John Adair, Lax O'Sullivan Lisus Gottlieb LLP lawyer Crawford Smith, and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP partner Lauren Tomasich representing several respondents separately.

Also before the Commercial List this week is the $223-million case Shanghai Lianyin Investment Co., Ltd. v. Lu et al. Bennett Jones LLP associate Shaan Tolani continues to represent the plaintiffs and Polley Faith LLP partner Andrew Faith is representing several respondents.

A third notable commercial case this week is 7572042 Canada Inc. et al v. The Bank of Nova Scotia with a concerned amount of $80 million. Heer Law lawyer Annette Latoszewska represented the plaintiffs. The respondent appears to be unrepresented.

Plunkett’s insolvency and restructuring practice encompasses both the litigation and commercial aspects of turnarounds, reorganizations, liquidations, security enforcement, receiverships and plans of arrangement in the context of formal and informal restructuring proceedings.
