Tax Litigation Associate

Tax Litigation Associate

Overview

Thompson Dorfman Sweatman (TDS) is currently seeking an Associate for our growing tax litigation practice.  Applicants must be articling students (to join after their call to the bar) or lawyers currently in their first year at the bar. This position will be fully remote with no obligation to move to our head office in Winnipeg. Since this practice group is national in scope and we represent clients from across the country, we are accepting applications from all regions.  We practice before the Tax Court and Federal Court so there is no requirement to obtain a Manitoba call.  We will consider relocating the successful candidate if there is a desire to work in-person at our main office.

As tax litigation is a hybrid of tax and litigation we will consider candidates who have an interest in tax with no litigation experience, however this is a litigation position where you will be assisting in the preparation of tax appeals. Responsibilities include research, drafting pleadings, assisting with documentation preparation for discovery and the preparation of trials before the Tax Court as well as appellate work before the FCA and SCC.
