Association of Corporate Counsel is honoured for DEI initiatives

The Association of Corporate Counsel has earned the American Society of Association Executives 2022 Power of Associations silver award for DEI initiatives that are advanced through the ACC Foundation.

Since its relaunch by ACC in 2014, the ACC Foundation has worked to further the mission of ACC through numerous DEI initiatives to increase the participation of under-represented groups within the corporate in-house counsel community and the legal profession as a whole. ACC Foundation director, Jennifer Chen, engaged the entire ACC team in support of the following four signature programs that have been recognized by ASAE as impactful:

  • Global Women in Law & Leadership Annual Conference
  • Pro Bono Jumpstart Grant Program
  • IDEAL (Inform Discuss Equip Act Lead) Initiative
  • DEI maturity model

“An integral part of ACC’s mission is to expand diversity, equity, and inclusion in corporate legal departments and throughout the legal community,” said Veta T. Richardson, president of ACC and the ACC Foundation. “This commitment to DEI influences our daily operations and informs how we serve our members globally. Our team worked incredibly hard to organize a variety of unique initiatives that spotlighted the importance of incorporating DEI in our businesses and in our communities and highlighted the critical role in-house counsel can play to advance DEI objectives.”

ASAE’s Power of Associations Awards recognize the associations’ economic and societal contributions locally, nationally and globally. ASAE will celebrate the award winners during its annual Summit Awards Dinner on Sept. 29 in Washington, DC.

“Congratulations to Association of Corporate Counsel for exemplifying the impact associations have on the industries and professions they represent, and on society at large,” said ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE. “It’s always so incredibly satisfying to see associations going above and beyond their everyday mission to change the world. We’re very proud to spotlight this award-winning initiative.”
